About the Street Box Camera

A street box camera operates as both camera and darkroom in one. This type of camera is used by photographers in many parts of the world especially in Europe and Latin America (the camera is also known as a minutera camera or an Afghan box). What’s unique about it is that it doesn’t use film like other analog cameras and instead, uses chemical-based photo paper to produce negatives which are then copied (also using the box camera) to produce positive photographs.

This camera, which mechanism dates back to more than a hundred years old,  is completely manual – it does not use electricity and the outcome relies on the photographer’s technique and his own skills to capture a beautiful portrait.

Warning:

The Street Box Camera private sessions make use of several studio lights and strobes. If you have an existing neurological condition that can be triggered by a strong flash, kindly inform us beforehand so we can adjust your shoot accordingly.
